Friday Workshops
Shep and Jan Kuester showed what it means to have a “BIG HEART” in this industry as they talked about the power of being able to take a residual paycheck and help the less fortunate in their community!
As usual Bob, Charlie, Carmen and Lynn gave away lots and lots of free items including watches, products and posters!
Saturday Workshops
Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of listening to Jackie Ulmer do a presentation knows why Charlie Umphred calls her one of the most dynamic stars in the entire network marketing industry! She continually WOWS everyone with her dynamic Internet marketing, a system that is not only super-duplicatable but enables her to grow a SIX figure income from home in her “spare time!” Bob Schmitz has been a network marketing guru for close to two decades and therefore has seen so many different ways that people use to make their business happen. He knows, because he has used them all himself.
Bob talked about all the different ways that are available to find more and more leads to enroll tons of new people in your business! Deb Warren is our newest Director and unfortunately she had a medical emergency with her son and could not make it to the convention. Due to the wonders of technology (cell phones!) she was able to do a very commendable job of describing how she develops her business not only around her kids but WITH her entire family.
Jackie Ulmer was the closing presenter and the Bob, Lynn, Carmen and Charlie closed out the workshops with a wonderful tribute to our “hometown heroes!” Party Time Started at 7PM with cocktails and then the group moved over to the dining room to eat, drink and “make music” as the DJ also had the karaoke ready for all comers! During dinner Bob, Charlie, Lynn and Carmen gave out awards. Kelly Wissink was awarded the “Team Player” award and Bob Schmitz was given a “Leadership Award”.
Paul & Betty Hobson received their Director Plaque and Deb Warren’s Director Plaque was shipped out to her the following Monday! The final award of the night went to Jackie Ulmer who was named 2005 Distributor of the Year! Karaoke & Dinner Dance was a BLAST! Food was fantastic, singers were great (Well, almost all of them were. Those guys doing Abba were hard on the ears for sure!).
Distributor of the Year: Jackie Ulmer
As rewarding as this recognition is, it really belongs to my team. I never forget that my success on any given day in my business is held in the hands of my team partners. It is imperative that I am always giving my best to them, and the team that they are also building. They deserve my respect and integrity each day in our partnership. And, we really are a team. I owe them a debt of gratitude each and every day. That's what creates a win-win and that's what builds successful organizations. We are a team committed to integrity in not only the way we build and conduct ourselves in the Scent-sations business, but also in the way we leave others feeling about the Network Marketing industry. I consider myself a professional network marketer. That means I have chosen the network marketing industry as my career choice. Because of this, I am committed to raising the level of integrity associated with this business. I don't want people out there thinking that this style of business is a scam. The fewer people who leave our industry with ill will, the better off for all of us. There has never been a more exciting time in this industry and certainly this business. Looking back to where we've been is fun, and looking forward is even more exciting. How empowering is it to know that we have a business that allows us to offer a real "right now" income through these fabulous products? How gratifying is it to know that we can help thousands of organization earn the money they need to support their causes? And, how truly exciting is it that we have the ability to teach someone how to build a lifetime income through our team building program? As a stay home mom, who was looking for a full time income without leaving my home or my children, I am grateful that my income is determined by my actions, my desires and my integrity in this business. Begin to set your sights right now on what your goals are for 2006. Where is your business going to take you? What awards are you and your team going to win? | I Did It! Last Night I Had My First Candle Party! | ||
|
My sister hosted it--thanks, Vicki!--with six party attendees, plus 2 people who ordered who couldn't make it, $260 in sales, and $104 in gross profits! A modest party, I guess, but that's now ANOTHER part of the business I have under my belt! Did some shows, now the party, so I'm off to get my first fund raiser. (Jackie, that's one of my goals!) Great seeing many of you at the Fall Fling! (The dancing was a blast!) Brian Landis, PA |

Every day we would start off our mornings by checking E-Mail and also we would end our day by checking E-Mail. One morning I checked our E-Mail to find that someone found us via our Autoresponder. To our Surprise this person was in the same town that we were visiting. I E-Mailed him and directed him to our Web site along with letting him know that we were visiting his “hometown”. The very next morning our E-Mail showed that we had a new distributor sign-up and it was the person who we were corresponding with who only happened to be approximately 4 miles north of us at the time. If we had not had our lap top with us we might not have gotten the Autoresponder in time to sign up this gentleman. By the way he started off with a Fast Start Pack. Please note that we signed up two more distributors that week from other areas of the country however we found it ironic that we were in the same area of this particular new sign-up and approximately 2,400 miles from our own home! Thank You for the Web site, the ability to give us an opportunity to have an Autoresponder, the best Smelling Candle ever and above all The Best Home Based Business over all. Oh yeah, we had to work our other jobs too but that was nowhere near as much fun and took much too much time out of our day. Actually we had a wonderful vacation and came back with a larger Mia Bella Organization. "HOW SWEET IT IS" and I'm not just talking about the Orange and Chili Pepper... |

| A Woman of Determination! | ||
I just wanted to pass along the success of one of my distributors, Amy Dauntain. Amy signed up in May of 2005. Amy is a mom of five young girls (Ashley 12, Asia 9, Ashe 9, Ananya 4 and Anastasia 1). Her desire was to stay at home with her 5 lovely girls and show them it is possible to be a stay at home mom and still earn a living.
Amy set up her first open house and worked hard, with her five girls in toe, to make it perfect. Her husband was unable to be there so she prepared herself knowing she would have to work the party and have the "help" of her 5 girls. Well, not one single person showed up for her open house. Amy was dumbfounded, but not defeated. Amy quickly recovered from that disappointment and decided to try her hand at fundraising. She successfully booked a small fundraiser with a day care. She sold $2,500 in product. She had another party at her home (again, the sign of someone who doesn't give up) and this time 6 people showed up and she sold $250 in product. Amy is now in the middle of her 2nd fundraiser. Not only has Amy pursued retail, but she has a team of three already and another on the way. I am so proud of her and her efforts. She continues to be an inspiration to me as she "Chooses Success" and not defeat! |

| Mia Bella's Are Fun, Lucrative & Wonderful Fund Raisers! | ||
Hi, I’m Dawn Rohlik from Rural Minnesota. I joined the Scent-Sations Team in August of 2004 because I wanted to add to our family’s financial independence. The vision became larger when I attended my first fall Fling in 2004. When I experienced the whole team atmosphere from the warehouse to the Fling I knew I had found a solid company! As the Fling unfolded and I started seeing and hearing the goals of the company. I felt a part of the whole Scent-Sations Team and I knew I was with a company that had integrity and a vision to help many distributors realize there goals in life. The enthusiasm was contagious. As I have been out and about at craft shows, home shows, fairs and expo’s what I’ve found out is that action works! Using brochures, business cards and flyers has been powerful. It seems like I’m always tweaking things to see what kind of response I get. What I have found that works great to this point is stapling little scent bags to the party plan and fundraiser flyers. As my potential customer or distributor is signing up for the candle drawing, I just start chatting with them. After they have had a chance to smell a couple of fragrances, I might ask if they have a need for fundraising or know of someone who does, or if they would be interested in hosting a home party and earn some free items. When they answer with a maybe or yes I make sure that they receive a party plan and or a fundraiser flyer with a scent stapled to it. I always tell them that way they have something to share with the organization when they present it and if I am close to home I offer to come in and present the fundraiser to the organization. I also ask if I can get their name and telephone number so I can call and visit with them so we can set something up. I also ask if they have a month in mind that they would like to have the party or fundraiser. That way I have everything on one sheet of paper and I transfer the info to my calendar when I get home. Sometimes they are ready right then and there to set it up so it’s good to bring your calendar with you. When doing fundraisers I’ve found that some organizations like to have a box with the mix of votives that they are selling available. At times they put them out in there church lobbies, or share them at their functions so those who are there have a chance to "smell". That way they can take orders then and there even before they might go selling door to door. The box of votives is either purchased and then resold by the organization for 2.95 a piece, or they return them to me when they are finished. This all depends on distance. There is no better feeling than knowing you are making a difference for an organization. Following is a testimonial from one of my fundraisers: "It was a great fundraiser. Thanks for your help! Selling Mia Bella Candles was such a great fundraiser for our volleyball program! We have done many other fundraisers such as car washes, selling raffle tickets, etc. which takes so much time, energy, organizing, along with minimal profits. I would recommend this fundraiser to anyone interested in saving time, selling a high quality candle, and making a great profit." I have a gal that wants to do a book party and follow right up with a home party after she has been selling for a week or so. We are planning that she will be able to take my scent bag to work with her. In the bag I also have a sample of the Bella Bars, a Bella Bun, and Body Wash, Along with a Ziploc bag with some coffee grounds so my customers can clear there nose when all the scents start smelling the same. It Helps! It is so much FUN just getting out and meeting new people and sharing our beautiful candles. I just relax and have a good time. My sweet husband made me a stand that way they can walk right up and just smell all the wonderful aromas. It’s great just popping the tops and watching their reactions. What a wonderful business we are blessed with! I love the simplicity of it and all the new friends that you make both business builders and customers. The lead program has brought me together with some "on fire" distributors who are excited about their business and wanting to have fun making money and building a team. It’s great being able to get to know them and help them any way that I can to make money and grow their team. I have found that you cannot wait for everything to be perfect before you act. You need to be "In Action". Let your enthusiasm be an inspiration to others and the rest just seems to fall into place. Do and Grow is my Motto. I’d like to Thank all of the Scent-Sations Team for bringing us such a fantastic product and a wonderful business opportunity! Sincerely, |

| And You Thought Going To The Laundromat Would Be Boring... | ||
After taking a good friend to the local airport at 5 AM, I found myself needing to be productive for a couple of hours until I went to work at 10 AM. So I brought my laundry and a book and settled down at the laundromat for a good read. Wrong! Enjoying a conversation with a fellow also doing laundry at this strange hour, talk came around as to what kind of work did I do. Aha! Now I had him--selling is my favorite subject. Discussing the merits of natural wax scented candles to a man who has black soot on his RV window blinds was a no-brainer! He agreed to meet me at 10 AM and a few minutes later he was in love with his Mia Bella Mulberry Spice candle! Susan Baggley |

| Passionate About Candles/Floral Arrangements | ||
I spoke to Lana Benoit who had made many of the beautiful floral displays at the Mid States conference and she was happy to share her skills with me. In about ten minutes I made my first votive stem flower. Those not able to visit with Lana could check out the back office under crafts to view a how to video demo on making these flowers. Anyway, I began making these and since I have to be different in what I offer my customer's I decided to buy a few items at my local craft store and make them into arrangements for the season. Well, I put them out and they are a huge hit. I had so much fun picking and choosing colors, finding items in my own back yard, and putting them together. I added a special touch as I try to do with my business and that is my personal hang tags. Each is an original, different feathers, florals, placement and hang tags. My customer's loved them and let me tell you I know that I will have no problem setting up at local craft fairs now and selling out. I used scents like honey suckle, sex on the beach, and apple cinnamon. For the single stems I put them in a vase with ivy, and added a beautiful hang tag for those customer's who just want to tuck one into a vase as a gift. I used victorian rose and it smells wonderful. I had many customer's grabbing for them, needing to bring them up to their noses just like a florist in a flower shop. WOW! was said more than a dozen times as they couldn't believe how wonderful they made the room smell. I have found a passion for floral arrangements now and might need to place another order for votives just to get some variety in colors. Gotta love this business. You never know what you are capable of until you give it a try. I think that even you could have fun doing this craft Charlie. I had to share the pictures of course. Enjoy! Stephanie Blaker, KS |

| Bella Wash Is A Halloween Hit! | ||
So, I decided I better get back into the system and start doing this business. Anyway, for your laugh, I just started back up, and I have to work my regular job, so I couldn't come to the fall fling. Last night was Trick or Treat here. My oldest son, Steven, who is 11, said he was putting together his own halloween costume this year. He wanted to go as a SITH (one of the bad guys from Star Wars, but he said he wasn't going as one from the movie, he was just making up his own.) So, It's 5:10, trick or treat starts at 5:30 and he says to me, "Okay, mom I need you to do my makeup. I want to look kind of like Darth Maul, but I want you to make up your own design, and for it to be blue and black, instead of red and black." I told him I didn't have any halloween makeup. Steven said, "but mom you always buy halloween make-up". I told him "honey, you said you were doing your own costume this year, and you never told me you needed make-up for it so I didn't buy any." Well, slowly, panic ensued. My 6 year old ninja, and 3 year old pirate are getting impatient, and sweaty, as they wait all bundled in 3 layers of clothes under their costumes. I'm tearing through drawers and cabinets trying to find something to make blue makeup out of. Well, I finally find some stuff that I think will work, and mix it up. I'm reading labels, okay, it's non-toxic, edible, etc. If it can be ingested, it should be fine on his face. So, I sit him down, and hastily begin putting my own blue makeup all over his face. By the way, I'm pretty proud of myself about now. I tell my son, "See, mommy came through. I've still got a few tricks up my sleeve." We finish up about 5:40, and he's pretty impressed with my make-up job. I turned the bathroom sink on, to rinse the make-up off of my hands. Imagine, the horror that spread across Steven's face as one minute he's looking over my shoulder admiring his mother's handiwork, and then glances down as I'm trying to hide and quickly scrub my dark blue stained hands. My son is pretty bright, it didn't take long for him to realize what his "ingenious" mother had done. I felt horrible, but I couldn't help it, I just busted out laughing. He's frantically scrubbing at his face, and I told him to look on the bright side, in the morning I would call school and tell them "I'm sorry, Steven wont be able to make it to school today, he's a little blue" He didn't find that funny. My mom asked me what I had used, and I told her I mixed food coloring with my own liquid cover-up. She says" You idiot, what do you think we always used to dye easter eggs with when you were little" I told her, I was in a panic, I wasn't thinking." So, I grabbed the make-up remover, it didn't work. Now, panic is at it's all time high for the evening. I'm grabbing everything I can think of. Nothing is working, and Steven looks rather "smurfish" without his hood and cape. We tried mayonnaise, vinegar, etc. Finally, my mom says "why don't you try that "white tea" stuff you've got". A light goes on. (obviously, I'm not thinking well under pressure, not a good attribute for a critical care nurse.) I run to the shower, and grab a tube of Bella Wash, and a new washcloth. Low and behold, in 5 minutes, a clean freckled face 11 year-old is smiling back at me. So, I debated overnight as to whether or not to share this with you, but I enjoyed the laugh, and I thought you might too. Besides, you can let everyone know that this Easter, when they are done coloring eggs, grab some bella wash to clean up those stained little hands with. Take it from me, it works great. We married young and broke, but were very in love. We thought that was all we needed. In early 2004 when we found out we were having a baby we realized love wont pay for the child we were about to bring into the world. He had been in the National Guard for 6 years, and was great at what he did. We had talked to a recruiter about going active duty, and when we heard about the baby, he called and made him put a rush on it. Not long after we joined we got word that he was to deploy. He left when I was 7 1/2 months pregnant. He missed his little girl being born, but luckily got to hear her little voice only hours after she was born. And thank goodness for the military he got to see her through web cams. So he left right after we were married for 3 months, again before the baby was due, and then left ahead of us to set up our new home in Texas when we got our orders, and missed her first word. Sure he has missed a lot, but always makes up for it. Our little girl is a daddy's girl, and he couldn't love anything or anyone more. So I guess I was wrong. I think in some form or another, you really can live on love. My hero doesn't realize what a special man he is, and he is so modest. But I realize it, and so do many other people. It means the world to me when people find out my husband is in Iraq and they say to thank him for what he is doing, and their prayers are with him. Then I know, he's not just my hero. He has never complained about what he does, he just says its going to be ok. Garn is a true American soldier. Here is a picture of him the day he met his daughter. Shariese Henderson
His squadron left for Iraq on our daughters 1st birthday. He's been in my sons life since he was 3 months old, and he's now 3 years old. He misses his "daddy". We all miss our daddy very much. We're getting married in January 2006 when he returns home safely. He's been in the military for 9 years. He served as a marine for 5 1/2 years and has been in the AF Reserves the past three years. He is the sweetest man I have ever met. He has a heart of pure gold and will do anything to help anyone out. No matter how bad a situation may be, he always tries his best to keep others heads held up high and puts a smile on their face. He is not only our hometown hero, he's our superman that saves the world, as my three year old son Braedon says. Stephanie Barnett, TX
Well the things we mom's learn last. When the seabees were deployed to Iraq they asked for volunteers to go and head up security and Patrick volunteered. He was not reactivated like I thought. The "family" was worried about how I would take it that he volunteered to go. I am like, excuse me, his group is going and they need security on the ground for them and I being a military brat, a Captain in the army myself and retired Army wife, would not understand that he volunteered? Oh they all got into so much trouble with me for not telling me :) I have attached a good photo that his Command Master Chief just this minute sent to me. I said do you think for a minute I would not think my son would raise his hand to go and take care of his seabee unit here, his friends etc. Give me a break I am a smart mom. I just got his address and they are so far away there are no facilities for them at all, no showers no anything so they were begging for packages with items for hygiene in them. So tomorrow I start getting the movement going from here to start getting things together. Mary Beth Yarbrough |
